> This conference will raise awareness and provide guidance in how to help the wider adoption of open research via teaching and mentoring

> The open research (a.k.a open science or open scholarship) movement has made tremendous strides in improving research practice and culture. However, wider adoption of open research practices remains elusive, while questionable practices and toxic work environments are a persistent and widespread issue. One reason is that comparatively little attention has been paid to the teaching and mentoring of open research, particularly at the graduate and post-graduate level. This represents a missed opportunity to educate and inform the future generation of researchers in open research. If left unaddressed, this could undermine the sustainability of far-reaching positive change.
