Ethical review of animal testing in Sweden

Since 37 years, the largest animal rights organisation in Sweden (Förbundet Djurens Rätt; earlier Nordiska Samfundet Mot Plågsamma Djurförsök) has had representatives in each of the ethical review boards in Sweden dedicated to animal testing. On Feb 22, 2019, they announced that they will no longer nominate members for the boards. The reason is twofold: (1) alternative methods to conduct the research is rarely considered, even though the law says it should, and (2) animal ethics is not really considered, even though the law says it should.
