Stepping down from IGDORE – a note of thanks and transition

Dear all,

After nearly nine years of building IGDORE and helping guide its development, I’ve decided to step down from all formal roles, including my position on the board. This marks a significant transition – both for me personally and for the organisation.

This was not an easy decision. But over time, it became clear that there are fundamentally different visions for IGDORE’s direction, which has made it difficult to move forward in a cohesive and sustainable way. I believe the best way to support its continued growth is for me to step aside and make space for a leadership team with a more unified perspective.

I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to have initiated and helped shape IGDORE through its formative years. I remain committed to the principles that guided my work – especially open and replicable science, and the need for sustainable alternatives that complement traditional academia. Researchers have different needs at different stages of life. I believe in creating systems that give researchers the flexibility to choose what works best – in terms of pace, structure, and location – so they can carry out open, replicable, and meaningful research.

To everyone who has contributed, collaborated, or simply followed along – thank you for being part of this journey. I look forward to seeing how IGDORE continues to grow and evolve in the years to come.

Warm regards,

Rebecca Willén,
Founder of IGDORE
