Arulpoomalai Ayyanar earned a PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad and his research focuses on heavy metal pollution, risk assessment of heavy metal contamination in aquatic environments, heavy metal fractionation, speciation and its toxicity. His research more specifically focuses on soil-heavy metal interactions and management of heavy metal contaminated sediments by electro-kinetic remediation technique. Also, he worked on development of a reactive transport model to predict the contaminant transport in a porous medium under an electric field. His further research interests are micro-plastics & micro-pollutant interactions, fate & transport of emerging contaminants in the environment, contaminated site and groundwater remediation.
